Even as a child, Allen Mollenhauer has constantly been interested and intrigued by music. Though he pursued a career in engineering, his first love remained to be music. Combining his interest in music and inherent skills in problem solving, he sought to create a device that will solve most people’s dilemma - transposing one key to another. As an engineer his most trusted companion is a slide rule. He envisioned creating a similar device that will help him in solving his music related problems. Instead of a linear device though, he tried a circular approach and used utilized an Index pointer in determining the notes in a given scale during transposition.
